Youth Ministry

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Below is my communication, similar to what I provided at a recent Members Meeting. This can be shared with everyone, and I hope it is helpful.

I would like to offer a brief report on the youth ministry. David Doty has been serving our high school youth part time for almost 2 years. He will be leaving us in a few weeks due to obligations to his Church denomination. We are grateful to God for both David and Gloria, and pray for God to bless them richly.

For the future, rather than posting signs for a youth worker, the Elders has decided to wait on the Lord and pray, and see whom God may eventually provide for us to fill this position. We will take other initiatives, as opportunities arise, to find a candidate God has in mind for us. God is faithful and will supply in His time, as He has in the past.

For the time being, the Elder Board has agreed for me to serve in this youth ministry leadership role. I have done this in the past at our Church for many years, and I am delighted to resume this role for this coming summer and beyond.

I truly love our youth from my heart, and enjoy serving with them. In spite of my gray hair, I sincerely treasure being a friend to them, as well as providing biblical guidance, and being a Christian example among them. By God’s grace, I think my stage in life provides me with lots of experience that can be a benefit for the youth as their counselor and teacher. I am not perfect, but I try to learn from my mistakes and experiences, and then lead the young people in God’s ways and will.

The teenage years are indeed a special time of growth and change. I count it a privilege and a blessing to be involved to help them become better disciples of Jesus at this critical time in their development. While I am committing myself to do my very best, I also need the support of parents to ensure that their teenagers will make Friday evening youth group a priority in their weekly schedule.

Your prayer support is very important. Please pray with me, that God will continue to bless our teenagers, and this Christ-centered ministry. The apostle Paul's words about prayer in Colossians 1:9-10, reflect all of our aspirations for our young people. It says:

"we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God".

May the Lord answer our prayers, and may our teenagers become all that God wants them to be. Thank you.
